Ishan Kishan received a grand welcome in his hometown of Patna after India's World Cup triumph. While answering a flurry of questions from the reporters, the Indian southpaw declined to answer a question on former cricketer Kirti Azad's controversial tweet.

After India's T20 World Cup win, Indian captain Suyakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir, along with ICC Chairman Jay Shah, took the trophy to a Hanuman temple near the venue. This gesture did not go well with Trinamool Congress MP and 1983 Cricket World Cup-winning team member Kirti Azad.

Azad took to X to express his displeasure and claimed that the trophy 'Belongs to 1.4 billion Indians of every faith.'

Ishan Kishan was asked about Kirti Azad's comments, but the Indian star was in no mood to give any reaction. He asked for 'better questions' from the reporters, focusing on cricket and the team's World Cup win.

"Ask a better question..."Ishan Kishan said to the media.

Talking about the ICC World T20 win, Kishan hoped the team continues to play in the same way in the future. The southpaw further added that he hoped to inspire the next generation of players with his performances.

"It is a great thing for the entire nation, and we hope that we play and win the same way in the future as well... I try that more players get inspired to advance ahead..."

Ishan Kishan was a star performer for India at the T20 World Cup

Ishan Kishan was India's second-highest run scorer at the T20 World Cup. The Indian big hitter scored 317 runs, only behind Sanju Samson in India's run-scoring list. Kishan's best performance of the campaign came against Pakistan, where he scored 77 (40) on a slow pitch in Colombo. Another highlight of his tournament was his blistering knock against Namibia, where he scored 61 (40).

Kishan performed well in the semi-final against England, where he scored 39 runs of 18 balls, but could not capitalise on the start. Against New Zealand in the final, Ishan Kishan scored yet another half-century to guide India to a 96-run win against the Kiwis.
