It pains while breathing but I am not going for an X-ray because I need to bat. I will check on my injury after the game. I have taken a pain killer so hopefully I will be able to bat tomorrow. There are two crucial days ahead for us so I will have go out there and bat," said Patel.
Gujarat were forced to utilise the services of part-time wicketkeeper Bhargav Merai, who took two catches in the innings after Parthiv's injury in the 12th over of the day.
Mumbai opener Akhil Herwadkar en route his 192 yesterday
The day, however, belonged to Mumbai's batting hero Akhil Herwadkar. The opener added 49 runs to his overnight score of 143, but missed out on his maiden first-class double ton by just eight runs.
Although Herwadkar lost his partner Suryakumar Yadav, who added just one run to his overnight score of 103, early on in the day after being caught at square leg by Axar Patel while trying to pull Singh, it did not deter the southpaw from playing his strokes.
In the company of skipper Aditya Tare (26) and Siddhesh Lad (39), Herwadkar added six more boundaries and a six to his tally yesterday.
Herwadkar's marathon 326-ball innings that included 22 boundaries and two sixes was finally halted after the opener missed the line in his attempt to flick off medium pacer Priyank Panchal only to disrupt his furniture.
Akhil disappointed
Herwadkar said he won't let go another opportunity to score a double ton. "Yes I was disappointed but it's a part of the game. Whenever I get a chance in future, I will never miss it," said Herwadkar.
Surprisingly, Ramesh Powar did not bowl a single over yesterday after bowling 15 overs on Day One.
