The much-anticipated open-top bus parade celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic IPL 2025 triumph was called off after Bengaluru city police denied permission, citing concerns over potential traffic congestion. The cancellation was officially announced via a tweet by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, dampening the spirits of fans eager to celebrate their team’s maiden IPL title.

Unfavourable weather conditions, particularly intermittent rain showers, likely played a role in the authorities' decision. Moreover, the overwhelming crowd turnout across the city following RCB’s dramatic win last night made crowd management a serious challenge, further influencing the cancellation.

Despite the setback, there remains a slim possibility of the parade going ahead if the Chief Minister intervenes and grants special permission. Interestingly, the open-top bus meant for the procession remains stationed near his office, leaving a glimmer of hope for fans.

RCB had meticulously planned a celebratory parade, scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM IST from Vidhana Soudha and culminate at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium by 5 PM, where a grand felicitation ceremony was to follow. However, with the police denying permission, only the felicitation event at the stadium will go ahead, set to take place between 5 PM and 6 PM IST.

The team landed in the Garden City around 1:30 PM IST to a hero’s welcome. While fans were looking forward to witnessing the champions on a city-wide victory tour, they will now have to make do with the limited-access stadium event.

Entry to the Chinnaswamy Stadium for the felicitation ceremony has been restricted to ticket and pass holders only. With minimal parking available at the venue, authorities have strongly encouraged attendees to opt for public transportation, including the Metro. The public has also been advised to avoid the Central Business District (CBD) areas between 3 PM and 8 PM to ease potential congestion.

RCB scripted history on June 3 by defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in a nerve-wracking final to clinch their first-ever IPL title after 18 long seasons. Batting first, the team posted a competitive total of 190 runs, with Virat Kohli anchoring the innings with a well-crafted 43. The batting effort was a collective one, with vital contributions from the middle order.

Krunal Pandya emerged as the match-winner, delivering a spellbinding bowling performance. He finished with figures of 2 for 17 in his four overs, stifling the opposition's momentum. His efforts earned him the Player of the Match award, as RCB’s bowling unit held its nerve in the final overs to secure a historic victory and send the city into jubilation.
