Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sounded out an ominous warning to rivals
Hotspur ahead of Sunday’s highly-anticipated English Premier League (EPL) derby by urging his side to ‘conquer’ the northern part of the city.
“It’s a big rivalry. It’s a part of London that we want to conquer. [Currently] we’ve been more dominant [than them], and it’s just beautiful [to play this fixture], especially when in front of our people. We cannot wait,” said an eager Arteta.
The Gunners come into the game as the table toppers with 26 points accrued in their 11 games to date.
Spurs strong on the road
Meanwhile, Tottenham are in fifth place with 18 points from the same number of fixtures under the stewardship of new manager Thomas Frank, and although their home form has been patchy, they are yet to lose an away game this season, which makes Arteta wary of their threat.

“I think they’ve done a lot of very, very good things [this season]. They’ve set out to win, they’ve won in some tough places as well. Their record away from home has been very impressive as well. Frank has given a very clear identity to the team, how they want to play, how they want to compete and it will be very tough [to beat them],” said Arteta.
Frank, on his part, is equally excited to take on Arsenal and suggested that his team will need to embrace the chaos and try to benefit from it if they are to emerge winners.
‘Game will be chaotic’
“Probably both Mikel and I would like a little bit more of a controlled game, but it will probably end up absolutely madhouse. But I’ll definitely embrace controlled chaos. Chaos is transitions. Chaos is high pressure. Chaos is set pieces. And all those elements are areas we would like to exploit,” explained Frank.
Spurs will be up against it at the Emirates Stadium, a place where they have never defeated Arsenal in the last 15 years. Furthermore, Arsenal have won five of the last six north London derbies while losing none.
