Argentine football star Lionel Messi has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s Instagram world record by amassing 20 million-plus ‘likes’ on his Copa America trophy post on Instagram. 

According to British tabloid, The Sun, Ronaldo previously held the record for the most-liked sports picture on social media app’s history.


The Juventus forward has more than 19.8 million ‘likes’ for his post which paid homage to the late Diego Maradona in November 2020. 



But the post-match picture Messi Instagrammed after Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the Copa final broke Ronaldo’s record.
