Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti said Friday he expects England defender Ashley Cole to recover from ankle surgery in time to play in this summer's World Cup.
Cole fractured a bone in his ankle after a clash with American forward Landon Donovan in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday and Ancelotti confirmed the left-back had surgery yesterday.

Three months layoff
The Italian believes Cole will be sidelined for three months but he is confident the former Arsenal star can return in time to make England's squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
"I hope he recovers quickly and comes back before the end of the season. That's a realistic possibility. He will have surgery today (Friday) and we hope to recuperate him quickly.
"In three months he will be ready to play, so for England he can play in the World Cup."
Cole's place against Cardiff in tonight's FA Cup fifth round tie at Stamford Bridge will be taken by Yury Zhirkov and Ancelotti expects the Russian to rise to the challenge of replacing one of the world's best full-backs.
