Five days after beating St Stanislaus in St Andrew's Challenge, Matunga lads beat Bandra boys 4-1 in Fr Donnelly Cup U-14 final in their own backyard

Having beaten them just five days back in the St Andrew's Challenge Shield final, Don Bosco 'A' (Matunga) once again hammered defending champions St Stanislaus 'A' (Bandra) 4-1 in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) boys U-14 Father Donnelly Cup knockout hockey final at St Stanislaus Ground, Bandra yesterday.

St Stanislaus began the match in a dominant fashion on their home turf and even had a couple of scoring opportunities earlier on, but failed to find the target.
Instead, in the resulting counter-attack, it was the Bosco boys who went ahead after a getting a penalty stroke. Preet Parmar made it 1-0 from the spot in the 10th minute. Kris Benson then added another for the Bosco nine minutes later as the visitors headed into the lemon break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
After the breather, Don Bosco continued to attack and struck immediately — Nihal Dhudwadkar scoring a field goal within the first five minutes of the restart.
Stanislaus then opened their account, when Josiah Noronha converted a penalty corner four minutes later. However, Dhudwadkar wrapped up the proceedings with the fourth goal for Don Bosco 10 minutes later.
Bosco under pressure
Don Bosco's coach, Javed Sayed admitted the hosts began well. "We were under pressure in the first few minutes as the ball was constantly in our half, but fortunately we didn't concede a goal.
Last week (St Andrew's Challenge final) we beat them 5-4 via tie-breaker. I'm happy this time we wrapped things up in regulation time," said Sayed, who is also the coach of Super Division outfit, Central Railway.
Meanwhile in the third place match, Don Bosco 'B' (Matunga) beat St Dominic Savio 4-0 with a brace each from Faizuddin Siddique and Mobin Rahimpur.
