Red Bull'su00a0Sebastian Vettel said Mexican rookie Sergio Perez's accident during Saturday's qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix should be seen as "a wake-up call" in the constant pursuit of improved safety in Formula One.

"We have to make sure we learn from this, although there is little we can do for tomorrow.

McLaren's Jenson Button said: "We all know that motor racing is dangerous and it says it on the passes, but there is always more we can do."

Red Bull's Mark Webber said: "We need to keep learning and to work hard with the FIA and with the drivers and help out the guys.
