Indian GM Akshayraj Kore missed out on a chance to finish among the joint winners when he failed to capitalise on an advantage in the middle game and was held to a draw by IM Swayams Mishra in the final round of the Rs 21.5 lakh prize money Mumbai Mayor International chess tournament yesterday.
Three GMs were tied at the top with 8.5 points. GM Pantsulaia Levan of Georgia was declared the winner on the tiebreak rule but had to share the prize money with GM M Mekheil of Georgia and GM Amonatov Farrukh of Tajikistan. They took home Rs 2,58,666 each.
In the ELO Under-2100, Ramkrishna Perumalla of Andhra Pradesh was joined by Mumbai’s Snehal Bhosale at the top of the standings. They shared the prize money, earning Rs 1,07,500 each. u00a0
