Only four runners are in the fray for the Aziz H Ahemdbhoy Trophy, a class II contest to be run over the trip of a mile, which is slated as the feature event of Thursday's evening race card at the Mahalaxmi racetrack. Despite the shortage of runners, however, the race may throw up a shock winner in the top-weighted Papakura.
Papakura, trained by SS Shah and to be ridden by S Mosin, is the longest in the tooth, and the eight-year-old gelding will be giving weight to rivals like Shadowfaxt, Exodus and Traherne, all of whom are younger to him by three years. In spite of this age handicap, there is a reasonable chance the oldest horse may produce a gallop that could give anxious moments to the relatively younger brigade, and with little luck, may catch the judge's eye first.
