The Indian cricket board may have had its reasons for deciding against sending a team for the Asian Games, but cricket legend Kapil Dev said it was important for the people in power to realise that they had a responsibility towards globalisation of the game as well.

"I don't know the reasons for the Indian Board not sending the team for the Asian Games, but I feel we should play anywhere if it helps promote cricket. The globalisation of the game is very important and I would like the game being promoted in America, China and other countries," Kapil told MiD DAY over the phone.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to stay away from the Asian Games to be help in Guangzhou from November 12 to 27, where cricket is making its debut in Twenty20 format.

"Asian Games is an excellent opportunity to promote the game in China. If we can send a 'B' team to Zimbabwe why can't we send a 'B' team for the Asian Games?" questioned Kapil.
