Khizar also played in a charity match between Yorkshire XI and Lashings World XI, featuring legends such as Gordon Greenidge, Courtney Walsh, Wasim Jaffer, Inzamam ul-Haq and Saqlain Mushtaq, where he outshone all to take the man of the match award with a half-century.

Dafedar, who was recommended by former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, was taken to UK under a scheme which looks to improve young players’ skills in unfamiliar conditions whilst also ensuring cultural and life experiences which should help the cricketers broaden their outlook in years to come.

The scheme is the brainchild of Dr Samir Pathak, a surgeon and former cricketer, and John Wilson, a teacher at Cheadle Hulme School. u00a0
