The Dadar eves held an upper hand throughout and led against their Malad counterparts 14-7 at half time. In the second half, Prithvi Shinde was the standout performer disrupting as many as five raids. IES VN Sule Guruji eventually won the encounter 29-09.
Sneha’s mother Sandhya, a state-level kabaddi player herself, introduced her to the sport three years ago.u00a0But it was India’s victory in last year’s women’s World Cup Kabaddi Championship (March, 2012) that inspired the 14-year-old to take up the sport seriously.
“My mother will be more proud of today’s win than me. It is because of her efforts that I took to the sport. I wasn’t too keen on it initially. Later, reading about the Indian women’s team’s triumph at the World Cup inspired me to take up the sport. I want to work hard and hope to play for the country some day,” said the Class IX student.
