Martina Navratilova revealed yesterday that she will commentate at this year's French Open in Paris even as she undergoes radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

"My life has not changed other than I have to be in one place for six weeks to sit through radiation. I still play hockey, I am playing tennis this weekend and I'll be commentating for the Tennis Channel during the French Open and Wimbledon," the 53-year-old tennis legend told Reuters yesterday.

Navratilova revealed on Tuesday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and is expected to make a full recovery.

The winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, before retiring from the game in 2006, insisted that she would not let her scheduled six-week radiation therapy in Paris during next month's French Open, affect her prior commitments.

"It's not like promoting a tennis match... it's interviews talking about breast cancer that is happening in my body," said Navratilova, who earlier wanted to keep quiet about her illness but then spoke up in a bid to educate other women on the disease and also help raise the awareness that early detection can help save lives.

"I am happy I can spread the word and hopefully help save some lives with this awareness," she said.
