Pune: The Threptin Fillies & Mares Stakes, a grade 3 race which chooses itself as the prime event of Sunday's nine-race card, has attracted only five runners, four of them four-year- old fillies.

Among them is Myrtlewood, the Pesi Shroff trained multiple group race winner whose conquests included the Indian 1000 Guineas & the Oaks at Mahalaxmi and the PK Mehra Super Mile Cup at Chennai.

However, Myrtlewood blotted her copybook when she lost to stable mate The Unicorn in the Eve Champion Trophy here at the Pune racetrack when racing as a money-back favourite under unfortunate circumstances.

In the hands of jockey PS Chouhan the Multidimensional — Adamile filly stood flat-footed inside the starting stall when the starter flagged off the race. Chouhan brushed her up too soon and that perhaps consumed her reserves as she had nothing to offer after entering the homestretch. She will certainly be looking to make amends and return to the winner's circle on Sunday.

Cameron and Chef D'Oeuvre may fight for the solitary minor place behind Myrtlewood.

First race at 1 pm.
