Bangalore: Namdhari XI beat Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) 2-1 to be crowned champions of the Hockey India 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Men) ‘B’ Division yesterday.
In a superbly contested final game, Namdhari XI got the early breakthrough when captain Hanspal Singh scored in the 11th minute.
Despite some high-paced top quality action, the goal was the difference between the two sides as they went into half time. In the second half, MSSA took the initiative and reaped reward in the 49th minute as Sartaj Alam slotted home the equaliser. However, the scoreline at 1-1 did not last long, as Hanspal rattled the board within a minute to put Namdhari XI in front again. It would prove to be the winner as Namdhari XI held on to take the victory.
In the third place game, Hockey Rajasthan beat Bengal Hockey Association in the shoot-out.
