U Mumba finished the home leg of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) with a 36-33 win over the Patna Pirates, much to the delight of an almost-packed house at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium at Worli's National Sports Club of India (NSCI) yesterday.

The game was tied 19-19 at the half-way mark, but some excellent raiding from Anup Kumar, Shabir Bapu Sharfudheen and Rishank Devadiga saw the hosts race to a 33-25 lead in the second half.

Patna fight back
However, they soon squandered that advantage to allow Patna within touching distance at 35-29, before seeing out a close win.

Patna's captain Rakesh Kumar, the most expensive player in the league, picked up 15 points from 14 successful raids yesterday to snap up the Best Raider award.

U Mumba's Surender Nada was given the Best Defender award for his five successful tackles in the game. With the win, the Mumbai franchise, who are unbeaten after four matches, went eight points clear at the top of the standings.

The tournament, being played in the caravan format, will now move to Kolkata.
