National shooting coach Sunny Thomas has been having quite an eventful time ever since he landed here three days ago. Thomas is popular with the media.
Grand opening
Having no clothes now means Thomas will not be able to participate in tonight's grand opening ceremony. "I've been told that even an India coat will suffice since I don't have the entire outfit. However, I've been trying to borrow a coat from anyone who may not be interested or able to attend the ceremony, but have failed in doing so. I have no choice but to sit in my room if I don't get a coat latest by tomorrow afternoon," he rued.
Meanwhile, Thomas cleared the air surrounding India's flag-bearer for tonight's ceremony. "Gagan (Narang) will be India's flag-bearer tonight since his event commences at around 11:30am," said Thomas.
The Indian Olympic Association had first named New Delhi Commonwealth Games' four-gold medal-winning shooter as India's flag-bearer here. However, since Narang was participating in the 10m Air Rifle event the next morning, it was believed that a late night out could tire the shooter and eventually affect his and India's chances of a medal.
