Siddhanth wins silver at St Patrick's chess

Siddhanth Lohia (8), the reigning Asian Schools silver medallist in chess stood second in the U-8 Category of the 3rd St Patrick's Chess Challenge conducted by the Singapore Chess Federation recently.

The Dhirubhai Ambani International student started learning chess at South Mumbai Chess Academy two-and-a-half-years ago.

Earlier this month, Siddhanth put up an excellent show in the ASEAN age group tournament in Chingmai, Thailand, where he upset top seed, Nguyen Duc Sang of Vietnam( FIDE rating:1653) in the last round.

“I am happy that I won a silver medal in Singapore. My ultimate aim to be like my idol, the late Bobby Fischer,” he said.u00a0
