Top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia advanced to the semi-finals at the Malaysian Open yesterday with a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win over Magdalena Rybarikova.
Dementieva tamed Rybarikova in 62 minutes with her lethal baseline hits and drop shots which caught the Slovakian flat footed.
"I think it was a difficult day for us. We had to wait for a long time for the rain to stop. I was glad I was able to finish the match in two sets," Dementieva told reporters.
