London: India kept Great Britain at bay in the final seconds of their second match to eke out a 2-1 win in the Hero Champions Trophy even as damp and dark clouds made way for the bright sun at the at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre on Saturday.

Britain made a dramatic request for a referral for a foul in the final second after the match, but the decision and score held for India.
While Mandeep Singh (17th) and Harmanpreet Singh (34th) scored for India, Ashley Jackson (35th) scored for England.
Into the second quarter, winger, SV Sunil darted down the right flank and created a chance for Mandeep Singh, who pushed home after Adam Dixon’s deflection proved ineffectual and only landed in Mandeep’s path for the first goal of the match.
Once again for the rest of the quarter, Britain dominated without scoring. India earned their first penalty corner only in the third quarter, when Manpreet made his way into the circle where he was fouled to earn the penalty corner.
Off the attempt India earned another. Then again, Raghunath’s attempt hit Barry Middleton and even as the umpire indicated another penalty corner, but Raghunath feeling the ball had hit Middleton’s shoulder, had a look at his coach, Oltmans, who seemed to suggest that they go for a referral.
They did and it confirmed their belief as the third umpire gave India a stroke, which Harmanpreet Singh converted to put India 2-0 up. But within a minute, Britain earned their third penalty corner when Middleton’s ball to a colleague found an Indian defender’s foot and Ashley Jackson converted the penalty corner to make the score 2-1.
