Interestingly, the Paris meet will also be Chopra’s first outing at this venue in eight years. The 27-year-old last competed in the French capital back in 2017, where he finished fifth with a throw of 84.67m, while Germany’s Johannes Vetter topped the podium with an impressive 88.74m

India’s Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is set to participate in the Paris Diamond League 2025, scheduled for June 20 at the historic Stade Sebastien-Charlety, according to Olympics.com. This will mark Chopra’s second Diamond League appearance of the season, following his performance in Doha earlier this year.

Interestingly, the Paris meet will also be Chopra’s first outing at this venue in eight years. The 27-year-old last competed in the French capital back in 2017, where he finished fifth with a throw of 84.67m, while Germany’s Johannes Vetter topped the podium with an impressive 88.74m.

Chopra was originally expected to feature in the 2024 edition of the Paris Diamond League but opted out to focus on training for the Paris Olympics, prioritising form and fitness ahead of the marquee event.

Earlier this season, Chopra made headlines after producing a career-best throw of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League in May, breaking his own national record of 89.94m, which he had set at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. Despite the record-breaking effort, Chopra narrowly missed the top spot, finishing second behind Germany’s Julian Weber, who recorded a throw of 91.06m.

Most recently, Chopra competed at the Janusz Kusociński Memorial meet in Poland on May 23, where he faced challenging wet conditions. He managed a best throw of 84.14m on his final attempt, again finishing second to Weber, who won with an 86.12m effort.

Chopra began his 2025 athletics season on a high, securing victory at the Potch Invitational Meet in South Africa in April with a best throw of 84.52m. The win laid a strong foundation for what is expected to be a crucial year in his athletic journey, especially with the Paris Olympics on the horizon.

Following the Paris Diamond League, Chopra is slated to participate in the Golden Spike meet in Czechia on June 24, and will later headline the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic, set to take place in Bengaluru on July 5.

Athletes competing in the Diamond League series accumulate points throughout the season, and those with the highest tally will qualify for the Diamond League 2025 Final, scheduled in Zurich on August 27–28. With consistent performances and national records to his name, Chopra will be a top contender in the race to Zurich.
