Have you ever heard of a loss being memorable?
Not really, right! But for NES International, Mulund it will be just that.
Due to ongoing exams, NES coach Ajit Rai was three-player short for their match against St Peter's, Mazgaon in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association's girls under-14 inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.
Rai, for once, decided to postpone the fixture, but then dropped the idea. He instead made the eight available players play the game.
However, the spirited NES International players lost the game 0-2, but not before giving a tough fight. They managed to keep St Peter's at bay from scoring for a major part of the play.
Brace
It was only in the final five minutes of the game that St Peter's Faiza Lala managed to break NES International's defence and scored a brace.u00a0
"It was definitely not easy scoring," admitted Faiza.
NES International coach Rai was satisfied with the outcome. "With just eight players, I don't think 0-2 is a bad result," he said.
"Studies are important and parents don't compromise on this. I didn't want to deny these girls a chance to play.
"The rule says that we should have a minimum of seven players and we had that. It was a good learning experience for them. Hopefully, we will win in our next match," added Rai.
