I met a girl through a matrimony site. We had a number of issues right from the start, related to relocation, our horoscopes, etc., but stayed in touch. We even had a few debates in between but always ended up speaking to each other again. After four months of virtual talks, we finally met and hit it off instantly. There was no awkwardness at all. On the last day of our meeting, I confessed my love for her, and she reciprocated. We got a little intimate, too, but it was totally based on our feelings and not casual at all. Now, although things are clear that we love each other, my family is still a bit hesitant because of issues like our horoscope and a few other things. What should I do? I love her, of course, but I also want my parents to agree. I am really stuck and that’s making her feel the same way, too.
Have you tried putting your side across to your parents? If you and this girl are in love, have managed to sort out your individual differences, and arrived at a place of some understanding, it’s possible that your parents can be convinced too. I can’t comment on whether or not horoscopes make any difference to your lives because that is a matter of belief between you and your family. What does matter is how you both see yourselves as partners in what is effectively a long-term commitment. Your parents presumably want you to be happy with someone you think is a partner. If you believe you have found this person and want to spend the rest of your life with her, it really is up to you to take a stand and put your arguments across. There may always be reasons for you to not be with someone, but the reasons for wanting to be together need to come from you. As you point out, this also involves her and keeps her hanging, which is unfair too.
