1 killed, 2 injured in E-way mishap

Amit Lalchand Tingreja, a 27-year-old businessman from Pimpri, died after the driver of the car he was travelling in, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a road divider near Khandala village yesterday morning.

Amit Lalchand Tingreja, a 27-year-old businessman from Pimpri, died after the driver of the car he was travelling in, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a road divider near Khandala village yesterday morning. The impact of the accident was so grave that the vehicle overturned killing Tingreja on the spot while injuring two others.

The injured, who had sustained minor injuries, were treated in a nearby clinic and the driver of the car, Jagbir Singh Gill (33), who managed to escape unhurt, was arrested by the Khandala police.

The mishap comes barely a week after V D Sardeshmukh, executive engineer of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, had claimed that the number of accidents happening on the expressway had come down significantly.
