Music is something that refreshes one's mind. It's a total stress buster as it diverts you from your thoughts and takes you to a different world. A world where there is no stress. So this Friday get off your couch and join the fun with Thermal And A Quarter(TAAQ),u00a0 the trendsetting rock band from Bangalore. TAAQ, which describes its music as 'Bangalore Rock', has been burning up the desi and international stages for almost 15 years now. The talented and experienced trio consists of Bruce Lee Mani (guitars and vocals), Rajiv Rajagopal (drums) and Rzhude David (bass and additional vocals).

English i sing
Describing his band's Bangalore connection, Bruce Lee Mani says, "English is the language I am most comfortable in, I even think in English. The three of us are from Bangalore. We grew up there, have lived in South India and that is the reason we are comfortable in it more than our mother tongue." He adds: "We sound very unique, now it sounds dumb but it's hard to describe that in words. But if you ask me I think this is what makes us different from other bands out there." If you ask Bruce he has a list of bands he idolises. "I personally idealise the Steely Dan, Sting, Dave Mathews and Fish" says Mani.

Journey so far?
"It has been 15 years since we are in this field and the journey hasn't been very smooth. In the beginning we had our part-time jobs as a back up because you can't totally rely on music till the time you are not accepted by the audience," says Mani about a field where everything depends on the audience. "It has been such a long time and we are still together, I guess music is the thing that has kept us together for so long," he adds.u00a0

10 years down the lane
Talking about the coming performance on Friday Mani informs, "This is sure going to be a night you'll remember. But if you ask me about the scenario a decade later, then it's hard to predict." But then again he adds, "Of course, on the personal front I want to have more cars, own a bungalow but if you ask me from the band's perspective then I hope we are further appraised by our Indian audience."

On Hollywood
There are no Hollywood plansu00a0 Mani says, "We have already released four albums and
currently we are working on the fifth album that would be out by the end of this year. We have no certain plans of going to Hollywood but yes, we have been performing on the international stage for a while now."

Youth quote
"My suggestions for the youth who want to take up music would be don't just drop out of the
college to do music full time. Get your degrees and keep rocking,"u00a0 says Mani.
