Parimala Amrut Bansode (20), a first year student of Bharti Vidyapeeth Women's College of Engineering, committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room yesterday.

Parimala Amrut Bansode (20), a first year student of Bharti Vidyapeeth Women's College of Engineering, committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room yesterday.

Bansode was in depression, as she had failed in four subjects. After she got her result yesterday evening, she returned to her hostel in Shridhar Nagar of Dhankawadi and locked herself inside.

There, she committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling.

Bansode's body was found at night after her roommates broke open the door, as she didn't respond to their calls. Mukesh More (43), owner of the hostel, immediately informed the police about the incident. More said, "Bansode's roommates were shocked to see her hanging in the room. The girl was very disturbed, as she had repeatedly failed in her exams."

Bansode's body was sent to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem at 11 pm. PSI Landge from Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, said, "We are waiting for the post-mortem report. However, prima-facie it's a case of suicide."

He added, "Bansode hails from Mumbai and her parents have been informed about the incident. They are on their way to Pune."
