Salman Khan will be tried for culpable homicide in the 2002 hit-and-run case
A Magistrate’s Court in Mumbai yesterday said that there is evidence against Khan to evoke culpable homicide and directed him to appear before Sessions Court on March 11. If convicted, Khan could get 10 years in jail.

Currently, Salman is being tried under Section 304 (I), (rash and negligent driving) which attracts maximum punishment of two years. Section 304 (II) attracts the maximum sentence of ten years. The incident in question occurred on September 28, 2002 when Salman’s SUV crashed into a bakery in Mumbai injuring four and killing one person sleeping on the pavement.

While the trial started in 2005, the Mumbai police asked for firmer charges to be put against the star in 2011, as he was just being tried for rash and negligent driving.u00a0Salman will reportedly have to attend court on March 11 where he will be formally charged.
