Srinagar: Authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley to prevent post Friday prayer protests as normal life remains affected for the 63rd consecutive day, officials said.

According to officials, there was no curfew anywhere in the valley but restrictions curbing all pedestrian and traffic movement except that of essential services were imposed in Srinagar. Similar restrictions have been imposed in all other nine districts of the valley besides some other law and order vulnerable towns. Normal life continued to remain affected in the Kashmir Valley as educational institutions, main markets, public transport as well as other businesses were closed.

Train services between Kashmir's Baramulla town in the valley and Bannihal town of the Jammu region also remained suspended since July 9 as protests began a day after top militant, Burhan Wani, was killed in gunfight with the security forces. At least 76 people have been killed and over 11,000 injured in the worst unrest in the valley after 2010 violence.
