Metro's Vaishali line to be tried and tested

Inspection for safety certificate to be carried out on July 12

The Anand Vihar-Vaishali corridor of Delhi Metro will undergo safety inspection on July 12. Trial runs on the three-km corridor have been successful so far and DMRC had recently invited the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to inspect the corridor for a safety certificate.

A senior DMRC official said that CMRS, RK Kardam has agreed to inspect the Line on July 12 and is expected to complete his inspection the same day. Ghaziabad Development Authority officials had earlier said the line will be opened to public on July 9 by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. But now it can be opened only after the CMRS inspection is over. Ghaziabad will be the third satellite city in the National Capital Region (NCR) to get connected with Metro after Noida and Gurgaon.

Long cut
Currently, residents of Ghaziabad have to come to Anand Vihar ISBT to board a Metro train. There are two stations on this elevated corridor and the line is expected to bring thousands of new commuters.

Gurgaon traffic hit
The road between City Court and Bristol Chowk in Gurgaon has been closed for traffic from Monday night for the construction of a Rapid Metro station. The road leads to Sector 56 and Golf Course in Gurgaon.
According to the revised traffic circulation plan, vehicles coming from Cyber City and Delhi (via MG road) will take right turn just below the DMRC alignment and will go straight before taking left turn after crossing Sikanderpur station. The traffic will then reach the Bristol Chowk roundabout to go to Faridabad, Sector 56 and IFFCO Chowk. Rapid Metro officials said the traffic coming from IFFCO Chowk could go towards Faridabad or Sector 56 by taking a U-turn below Sikanderpur metro station.
