Mumbai: Two dead, several injured after chawl collapses in Bandra

Two people lost their lives and three got severely injured after a chawl at Nirmal Nagar in Behrampada area of Bandra came crashing down late at night on Saturday. While the fire brigade received the call at around 10. 55pm, the residents had already moved the victims to Bhabha and KEM hospitals.

Sources confirmed that the incident took place around 9.45pm, a day after the heaviest downpour of the season. As the dilapilated structure of the chawl crashed, Farida Qureshi (52) and Jibran Qureshi (5) sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Bhabha Hospital at 9.55pm. Another woman whoes name couldn't be confirmed was shifted to KEM hospital for further treatment.

Two more residents, Salima Qureshi (43) and Yasmin Qureshi (26) who sustained severe injuries, were pronounced dead on arrival at Bhabha Hospital. Fire brigade received the call an hour after the tragedy took place, till then victims were rushed for medical treatment by residents.
