The President of Pune Traders' Association Popatlal Oswal has warned of a bandh if the civic administration continues to ask traders to register themselves with the municipal corporation for the Local Body Tax (LBT).

Oswal said are against the implementation of LBT, and have already filed a petition in the High Court and the Supreme Court in this regard. “Both the courts haven’t yet given the verdict on the petition yet, and hence the PMC should not force us to register with it for the LBT,” said Oswal.

He added that the traders would again call the bandh if the municipal corporation would continue to pressurize them to get the registration done.u00a0

While the Secretary of Pune Trader’s Association Mahendra Pitaliya claimed that so far 58,000 traders had already registered for LBT, he said, “The civic administration should not pressurise traders.” u00a0
