Indian hockey's controversial status continues. Last night, as the players returned to their rooms following training at the MEG Ground, it was learnt that drag-flicker Sandeep and midfielder Sardara were frantically packing their bags to leave for home the next morning.

A source from the camp told MiD DAY: "The duo have spoken to team officials here and even to Hockey India secretary general Narendra Batra in Delhi that they are unhappy with the goings on at the camp and mentally stressed out and want to go home. They even called up their respective families to say they are coming home."
It is learnt that Batra was trying his best to convince the duo to stay. "Batra told them that he will remove the erring officials and that he is all for the players," added the source.

Sandeep meanwhile, did not confirm or deny the news to MiD DAY. "I can't say anything now," is all he said. Chairman of HI's development committee Pargat Singh said he knew nothing and asked MiD DAY to contact Batra, whose phone was switched off.
