The film, Just Punjabi was announced close to the success of Ek Ajnabee, Bunty Walia's last production. Abhishek Bachchan was pencilled in to play the lead. But three years since the film's conception, it still hasn't taken off. Sources in the industry believe Abhishek to blame for the film's delay. It has now been shelved.

Delays, delays

An industry source reveals, "The film was meant to be an Indian take on My Big Fat Greek Wedding and was to have the Bachchan couple (AbhiAsh) in the lead. The film refused to take off even after repeated meetings to work on the script and screenplay of the film. Nothing seemed to impress Abhishek. The film kept getting delayed again and again."

No progress

The source further adds, "In March this year, there were rumours that the film would finally go on the floors in October but still there in no sign of the film making any progress. After spending time and money on the 'jinxed' film, the producer has now decided to completely put the project on the back burner. Bunty has now started his new film Lamhe starring Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor which is directed by Rahul Dholakia. This new film will be shot all over Kashmir."

Says Bunty Walia, "We've not planned to shelve the movie at all. We are in the process of finalising the combo dates with Sanjay Dutt in 2010. The film is very much on. We have the script approved by the actors also."
