Farhan refuses A R Rahman's offer to sing a song in Blue

By: Subhash K Jha

Farhan refuses A R Rahman, because he wants to sing only for films that feature him

Farhan Akhtar said a regretful no to A R Rahman for an offer to sing in Blue for Zayed Khan. Rahman had earlier  offered to have Himesh sing for him.

Now the song composed for Farhan has been sung by Vijay Prakash (the singer who has done the playback for Quickgun Murugun). Vijay also sang for Rahman in Yuvvraj and Swades.

The matter  was  more or less confirmed when after a longish silence, Farhan said  a reluctant no to the song that Rahman wanted Akhtar to sing for Blue.

The song entitled Fiqrana was composed keeping in mind Farhan's range and style of singing. And Rahman had personally requested Farhan  to do the song.

Though Farhan remained unavailable for comment, it  is  understood that he begged off because he wants his singing voice to be identified only with his own screen  persona.

Says Blue director Tony  D'Souza, "We were  very keen to have Farhan sing for  us. But he couldn't. So we got  Vijay Prakash for Fiqrana.

Fact: It was Himesh Reshammiya who first decided that he'd sing on screen only for himself.
