By the sheer genius of his achievements and the longevity of his cricketing career, people identify with health and joy. He is a controversy-free sportsman, and that's what the junta finds endearing. Tendulkar therefore encourages people to be good human beings rather than just rich Indians. He makes for a perfect role model.

Salman Khan topped the list of the healthiest icon in entertainment

This Bollywood actor is known to make fitness popular among Bollywood stars, long before Shah Rukh Khan made the six-pack abs popular with an on-screen character.

Holistic health guru Mickey Mehta vouches for Salman: For Salman, fitness has never been a phase or a fad. It's who he is. He has also been in the public eye longer than any other actor who is so passionate about his body. Anyone who has followed his career can see that he is grown from strength to strength with sheer
determination.

Shah Rukh Khan won the maximum votes for happiest man in entertainment

He is the most acclaimed actor in Bollywood, and is also a TV host and film producer. Along with acting, Khan also runs two production companies.

Besides being an actor, Khan is a superstar, thinks Mickey Mehta: Since he is a successful actor, endorser of a huge number of brands and also a business mogul, people assume he is the "happiest". BUSINESS

Industrialist Anil Ambani emerged winner as role model in both health and happiness categories

Anil Ambani is the chairman of Reliance Capital, Reliance Communications, and MD and Chairman of Reliance Energy. His net worth is estimated at US$ 12.5 billion.

Director of Dr PN Singh Centre for HRD, Anita Shantaram says why he won: The main thing that drives public decision is visibility. Anil runs the marathon, has lost weight and toned up in the last couple of years, so, it is obvious people are going to regard him as a healthy individual. Good health and happiness tend to overlap, and this halo effect could be the reason why he is also perceived as the happiest. He was the underdog, who had to fight it out with his elder brother, which is why people take him
more easily.

Who else came out tops?
Ratan Tata and Mukesh Ambani ranked at 2nd and 3rd respectively, in both categories.

"Public decision is driven by visibility. Anil ambani runs the marathon and has lost weight. plus, health and happiness tend to overlap"

Sonia Gandhi was voted the healthiest politician by people in 8 metros

Sonia Gandhi is President of the Indian National Congress party, and widow of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi.

Counselling psychologist Dr Bijjal Maru gives insight into public perception: A healthy lifestyle is suggested by a lean, strong built (not necessarily muscles, but in terms of ideal body weight), a ready smile and glowing skin with a hint of pink. Sonia Gandhi therefore seems the ideal winner in a contest driven by perceptions and associations.

Lalu Yadav is the happiest politician

An Indian politician from Bihar, Yadav is currently Minister for Railways, and a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha from the Chhapra constituency.

Happy people have the ability to laugh at life's problems, says Dr Maru: Happiness is perceived to be linked with three qualities confidence, resilience and a sense of humour. People who have the ability to bounce back from anything that life throws at them, are comfortable with relationships at work, and those who are in control of circumstances and goals, are seen as happy people. Lalu Prasad fits the bill.
