Lata Mangeshkar | Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar is practically immobilised owing to severe knee problems.
Sources in her family told MiD DAY that she is likely to undergo surgery soon.
She is suffering from osteoarthritis a chronic knee problem that has made her almost immobile. She is being treated by Dr Dhananjay Kelkar. Speaking to MiD DAY, Dr Kelkar said, "Her health is in good condition except for the osteoarthritis of both her knees."
"We all are requesting Lataji to undergo knee replacement as early as possible, but she is reluctant," he said. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also undergone the same operation.
Lata is apprehensive that following the operation, she may be confined to a wheelchair.
On September 28, Lata celebrated her 79th birthday. She has sung more than 30,000 songs in the past 65 years in as many as 20 languages. |
