Swede learns fire dance in two days, performs in film |

A Kannada flick for the first time had a Swede perform a fire dance in it as the cameras were set rolling with a performance by 'Agni', a team of city-based fire dancers, for Upendra's much-anticipated film Super
Hide (20), the Swede who performed, is in India on a cultural exchange programme. She learnt the art in 48 hours and performed for the launch event of the movie at KSLTA stadium, which the dancers came to know was also the first shot of movie.

"I'm thrilled," Hide said. "It is a fascinating art. I learned the art as I loved it, and now I have got an opportunity to perform."
Actor Upendra, known for his fondness for springing surprises, is all set to do more of the same with his comeback venture as a director, 10 years after he last directed a Kannada flick.
The star, who hit the road of fame after leading roles in superhit flicks he directed, 'A' and 'Upendra', has sent Gandhinagar abuzz with his comeback venture Super, and he is said to have lined up plenty of surprises for this film as well. Thursday, which saw the launch of the movie being produced by Rockline Venkatesh, was no exception.
Hide is a high school passout from Karlskrona, Sweden. "Hide is the first Sweden citizen to perform for a Kannada flick," said Sarvana Dhanpal, founder, Agni, and a fire dancer. "She was with us and wished to learn the art. We taught and unexpectedly we were called to perform in the evening to here mark the launch of the venture. That's how she has become part of the movie." |
