Sleep deprivation to no set diet pattern; How Kapil Sharma underwent a weight loss transformation amid his busy schedule

Kapil Sharma’s dramatic weight loss transformation has garnered attention, and his fitness trainer Yogesh Bhateja recently shared details about the comedian’s challenging journey

Kapil Sharma's recent remarkable weight loss has made headlines, and now his fitness trainer, Yogesh Bhateja, is giving some behind-the-scenes details about the comedian's metamorphosis. He revealed that Kapil's weight loss was difficult because he suffered from sleep deprivation and ate irregularly.

In an episode of Mad Over Growth with Nitin Bajaj on YouTube, Yogesh Bhateja, who has also trained celebrities such as Farah Khan and Sonu Sood, discussed working with Kapil on his weight loss journey.

Kapil's first day for transformation

Yogesh claimed that Sonu Sood introduced him to Kapil during the Happy New Year promos. Following that, Kapil's manager called and said Kapil was eager to begin his fitness journey. Yogesh began training Kapil in his bungalow, initially with a mat, resistance band, and Kapil's existing treadmill, with additional equipment added later.

The trainer recalled his first day with Kapil, "The story of Day 1 is actually pretty funny. I asked him to do stretches, and because he hadn't moved his body in a long time, even simple movements like arm rotations, body twists, and toe touches caused him discomfort. His expressions were so exaggerated and comic… From the very next day, he was back on schedule, and we began with basic movements. That's when I realised how stiff his body had become, there was no food discipline, and a lot of inflammation in his body."

Kapil's unhealthy lifestyle

He also revealed how Kapil's busy schedule led to an unhealthy lifestyle, "Since Kapil was the main guy, the responsibility on him was even greater. He was sleep-deprived, his diet had no set pattern, and he would eat at odd times. There was no discipline. It took me a long time, along with his manager and team, to bring some alignment into his lifestyle. But by God's grace, when his film came out, everyone saw the difference on screen."

Yogesh made several alterations to Kapil's diet. He increased his intake of salmon since it is "a great source of protein that helps manage calories". He also made sure Kapil ate enough vegetables.

Kapil surprised everyone in April of this year when he was spotted at the airport, sporting a noticeably leaner physique that hinted at a significant weight loss transformation. Kapil's weight has been known to vary, with previous bouts of major weight loss followed by weight gain. However, he is currently in excellent form and routinely posts elegant photographs on social media that highlight his fit physique.

Kapil is now headlining the third season of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show on Netflix. He is also working on a sequel to Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which debuted in 2015. He revealed the first look at the film during Eid this year.
