Aamir Khan to shoot Lalkaara till March 2027, 3 Idiots sequel to roll in April

Beginning October, Aamir Khan may have one of the busiest stretches of his career. While it's known that the superstar will kick off Lalkaara - centred on celebrated cricketer Lala Amarnath and how he led the Indian cricket team in the historic 1952 Test series against Pakistan - in October, we have now learnt that filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and he intend to shoot it at a breakneck pace till March 2027. The idea is to wrap the film in time for a December 2027 release.

A source revealed, "Aamir has a clear calendar in his head. The plan is to dive into Lalkaara from October, get the bulk of the shooting done by March, and have the film ready for December 2027 release, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the 1952 Test series."

The aggressive schedule is also because of what comes next. The sequel to Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots (2009) is currently being written. According to insiders, Khan has been assured that the final draft will be ready by early 2027, allowing him to potentially begin shooting around April. The source added, "Aamir wants to read the 3 Idiots sequel's draft by February, and if everything falls in place, take it on floors around April with co-stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi."
