Bhool Chuk Maaf movie review
If you've enjoyed films like Happy Death Day and Palm Springs, Bhool Chuk Maaf starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi can easily be a likeable watch. After getting tangled in an unwarranted controversy over its release, the film finally hit theatres, and boy, this one's a paisa vasool pick.
Bhool Chuk Maaf is set in Benaras, where lovebirds Ranjan Tiwari (Rajkummar Rao) and Titli Mishra (Wamiqa Gabbi) wish to marry and live happily ever after. However, Ranjan is a jobless raja beta who has to secure a sarkari naukri (government job) to tie the knot. He somehow manages to bag one with the help of Bhagwan Das (Sanjay Mishra), and the couple proceeds with their pre-wedding festivities, only for Ranjan to wake up on his haldi ceremony every day, thus stuck in a time loop. The premise traces his journey to decoding the chaos that is a hurdle to his wedding day.

Bhool Chuk Maaf to finally release in theatres on May 23: Report
The film has an ensemble cast, and each character fits the bill, leaving no stone unturned to deliver a powerful onscreen portrayal with adequate comic timing. Rajkummar and Wamiqa, aided by the use of regional dialect, are a treat to watch. Acting chops were served, and neither overpowered the other. This recipe was perfected with seasoned veterans like Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zaikr Hussain, Ishtiyak Khan, and Raghubir Yadav.
Props to Karan Sharma, who wrote and directed the film, which features dialogues that are surely going to tickle your funny bones. Comedy isn't an easy genre, and making the audience laugh with the most basic lines like "Udhaar toh hum ek second mein maang lenge bas koi dene wala chahiye" is proof that the makers did not take this creative opportunity for granted.
Bhool Chuk Maaf, which fought its way for a theatrical release, could have gotten away with OTT. This one did not necessarily require a big screen experience, but the warmth and comfort of home and family. It has drama, dialogues, and emotion - all the elements that will take you back to the good ol' Bollywood days. On the surface, it might seem like just another time loop concept, but this one unravels an important message as the curtain falls. Do give it a shot!
