Dev Anand's son and actor Suneil Anand dies in London due to heart attack; family issues statement

Suneil Anand, the son of late legendary actor Dev Anand, has died in London at the age of 70. The former actor and director reportedly died after suffering a heart attack. The news of his demise was confirmed by the Anand family through a statement issued by his niece, Gina Narang. The family has requested privacy in the difficult time as they mourn the loss.

Sharing the news, Gina Narang stated the family is grateful for the support that they have received during this difficult time. "With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand. We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful. We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together," the statement stated.

Notably, Suneil was Dev Anand's only son. According to Film Information, Suneil breathed his last in the same hospital in which his father had died in 2011. Suneil is survived by his 94-year-old mother, yesteryears' actress Kalpana Kartik, and only sister, Devika, who live in Ooty.

About Suneil Anand

Suneil Anand was the only son of iconic actor and filmmaker Dev Anand and his actress wife Kalpana Kartik. Interestingly, he was born in 1956 in Zurich, Switzerland, while his parents were on their way to attend the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. He became the youngest delegate st the film festival.

Born into one of Hindi cinema's most renowned and celebrated film families, Suneil made his acting debut in the film Anand Aur Anand (1984), which was directed and also starred his father. The film did not perform at the box office.

Later, Suneil went on to star in movies like Car Thief (1986), and Main Tere Liye (1988). However, after his acting career failed to take off, he shifted his focus to managing his father's production company, Navketan Films.

Years later, he made his directorial debut with Master in 2001. It was a martial arts film. In 2014, Suneil went on to make his Hollywood movie debut with Vagator Mixer.

Suneil Anand's passing marks the end of another chapter in the Anand family's legacy.
