Main Hoon Na may be over two decades old, but Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan's much-loved collaboration continues to find new fans. Actor Arjun Kapoor recently revisited the film while watching it on TV and used the moment to make a public plea for a sequel. Farah's response, however, added an interesting twist to the conversation.
Arjun came across the 2004 film while checking into a hotel and shared a glimpse of it on his Instagram Stories. Nostalgia quickly turned into a sequel demand as he wrote, "The joy of watching your all time fav film randomly on tv as you check in into a hotel in this digital era⦠We need a sequel asap!!!" He also tagged Farah, putting the request directly to the filmmaker.
Farah appeared to play along with Arjun's idea when she reposted his story. Her response read, "Hahaha⦠If you desire something with all your heart⦠Arjun Kapoor love u."
The filmmaker's words echoed one of the film's memorable lines and immediately gave the exchange an extra dose of nostalgia. While Farah did not confirm that Main Hoon Na 2 is in development, her playful response was enough to get fans talking about the possibility of returning to the world of the original.
The 2004 film marked Farah's debut as a director and featured Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao. Its mix of romance, action, comedy and college drama went on to make it one of the memorable entertainers of its time.
The sequel chatter also comes at a time when Farah has been discussing a possible return to direction. In one of her vlogs earlier this year, the filmmaker revealed that she was considering getting back behind the camera once her children left for college.
"I'll make it in a bit! Once the kids leave for college, then I'll make it. There is a whole petition on the internet called âCome back Farah Khan'. So I think it is time; I think at the end of this year I will start," she had said.
Farah has also previously indicated that if she directs another film, Shah Rukh would be her preferred leading man. "If I do, I will do it with Shah Rukh! Otherwise, I will wait and do YouTube," she said.
After Main Hoon Na, Farah and Shah Rukh reunited for Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year. Whether their next collaboration eventually becomes Main Hoon Na 2 remains unconfirmed, but Arjun's nostalgic request has certainly reopened that conversation. Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in King, releasing on December 24, 2026.
