Kriti Sanon has reacted to the ongoing debate around the safety of women amid the violence against them and the criticism women face for their choices. The actress' recent social media activity has once again reignited the debate around the policing of women's outfits. Notably, this comes amid the ongoing outrage over the Jamui case in Bihar.

Kriti Sanon reacts to selective outrage

Kriti shared a post on her Instagram Stories that read, "Guys, it's not Men vs Women." It further stated, "It's women vs patriarchal misogynist men & brainwashed women who think patriarchy is a sanskar."

Additionally, Kriti also showed her support for a post about the disparity in outrage over crimes against women and criticism of actresses' clothing, hinting at her Raksha Bandhan ad row. The actress liked a post, which read, "The fact that rape, domestic violence, and dowry deaths do not invoke much outrage in this country as an actress showing cleavage in a festive ad says a lot about our priorities."

Kriti's reaction comes amid the ongoing outrage over Bihar's Jamui case, wherein a Class 10 girl and a male classmate were reportedly stopped on the way, assaulted and harassed by a group of youths. The incident, which took place on September 19, was captured on video by the youth and later circulated on social media. The police have made arrests in the matter as the investigation continues. Although Kriti did not directly mention the Jamui incident, the timing of the activity shows her continued support towards social issues.

Kriti Sanon's ad controversy

Kriti landed in controversy in August after her Raksha Bandhan ad for a jewellery brand sparked backlash on the internet over her outfit. In the ad, she was seen celebrating the festival while wearing a bralette-style blouse paired with a cape and draped skirt.

While some questioned the choice of outfit for a festive campaign, others came to her defence. The controversy intensified after some celebs like Kangana Ranaut also criticised the advertisement. Kriti later responded to the criticism, saying that "Culture and Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline!"

Nevertheless, the brand later withdrew the advertisement amid the backlash, citing reasons of safety.
