What began as an unexpected professional tiff has now escalated into a full-blown industry standoff. After the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh exited Don 3, following which Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment issued him a notice seeking Rs 40 crore in damages. The Producers Guild of India informally addressed the tiff and has now suggested that both parties opt for the legal route to resolve the matter.

PGI advises legal route for Don 3 row

According to Variety India, "As an organisation, the Producers Guild of India can intervene only to a certain extent. With both parties standing firm, the guild members advised them to involve their legal teams and resolve the matter through the proper legal route."

As per reports in the same portal, Bollywood producers and studio heads, including Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ektaa Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, and Punit Goenka, met at Aamir Khan's Mumbai residence to explore possible solutions. Emails were sent to all prominent producers, but only a handful chose to be present.

Both sides presented strong cases. Ranveer arrived armed with a dossier of emails and WhatsApp texts to present his side, while Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment presented theirs. As per sources, Farhan and Ritesh remained firm in their demand for compensation, while Ranveer also stood his ground, further complicating efforts toward an amicable settlement.

About Excel Entertainment and Ranveer Singh fallout

Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 took an unexpected turn in the past few weeks when the actor exited the project, following which the filmmaker's banner, Excel Entertainment, demanded Rs 40 crore from Singh in damages. To note, the actor exited the project two weeks after Dhurandhar's success. Ranveer reportedly walked away due to dissatisfaction with the script and concerns over the project's management.

Akhtar's production house demanded compensation for losses incurred due to pre-production, scheduling disruption, and entourage costs. Ranveer offered to pay a certain amount for the losses incurred during Don 3's pre-production and development stages, but upon seeing the massive compensation figure proposed by Excel Entertainment, he withdrew his offer.

On the work front, the actor next has Jay Mehta's zombie thriller Pralay. The film stars Lokah fame Kalyani Priyadarshan alongside him.
