Shriya Saran's love for Holi is more than just a childhood fondness for colours. The actor revealed that she celebrated the festival even during her wedding, making the occasion part of one of the biggest celebrations of her life. Saran opened up about her unusual wedding memory while appearing with the cast of Drishyam: The Conclusion on The Great Indian Kapil Show season 5.
As Kapil Sharma got the cast talking about their favourite festivals, Saran picked Holi and shared just how closely the festival is tied to her memories. While weddings typically come with their own set of rituals and celebrations, Saran's decision to include Holi offered a glimpse into her personal connection with the festival.
Saran was joined on the show by Ajay Devgn, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Jaideep Ahlawat and director Abhishek Pathak as the cast discussed the festivals they enjoy most. Mrunal Jadhav also chose Holi, explaining that she loves getting drenched in colours. Jaideep Ahlawat, meanwhile, connected the festival to his childhood memories of celebrating Holi in his village, particularly Lath Maar Holi.
But it was Saran's wedding-Holi revelation that gave the conversation a particularly personal turn, connecting a festival from her childhood to one of the most important milestones in her adult life. Ajay Devgn, in a conversation, also mentioned how Drishyam wouldn't be made if his wife Kajol was a part of the cast.
The conversation also allowed Saran to revisit her childhood in Haridwar and the way festivals and family occasions were celebrated in a small-town setting. She recalled that children were expected to actively help with preparations for weddings and other gatherings.
"They used to have all sorts of tasks done in small towns. That's the kind of thing that happens where we come from. Cleaning up, making floral designs, creating rangoli patterns, applying a cow-dung plaster, I've done it all," she said.
Saran's recollection painted a picture of celebrations where children were part of the preparations rather than simply spectators. The cast also reminisced about growing up with clothes that were altered, reused and passed down as children grew.
With Saran's Holi-at-her-wedding revelation at the centre of the conversation, the episode offers a personal glimpse into the traditions and childhood memories that have shaped the Drishyam: The Conclusion actor's idea of celebration. The first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show will air on Netflix on September 26 at 8 pm. Drishyam: The Conclusion will release in theatres on October 2, 2026.
