Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha new release date out!

After the teaser broke all records, the team behind Eetha is back with great news for cinema lovers. The film will now arrive in theatres on December 4, 2026. To note, the film has been postponed to avert a clash with Yash's Toxic. Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's Vvaan, which was also to release around the same time, has officially postponed its release date. Meanwhile, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 continues to release on the same day.

About Eetha teaser

The teaser offers a glimpse into one of the most remarkable chapters of Vithabai's life. It shows her character heavily pregnant and preparing to take the stage despite being on the verge of childbirth. Moments later, she appears on stage and continues the show after giving birth to her child backstage.

Based on the extraordinary life of legendary Marathi Lavani dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, Eetha celebrates the journey of one of Maharashtra's most influential folk artists. Revered for her iconic Lavani and Tamasha performances, Vithabai captivated generations of audiences and was honoured by the President of India in 1957 and 1990 for her immense contribution to India's folk theatre tradition.

The film also marks Shraddha Kapoor's reunion with producer Dinesh Vijan after the blockbuster success of the Stree franchise. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Zeeshan Ayub Khan and Randeep Hooda.

Eetha title row

While the teaser and Shraddha's transformation were praised, the film found itself at the centre of controversy after Vithabai Narayangaonkar's family objected to the title. The family questioned the makers' decision to use the name and sought clarity over whether the project is connected to the late folk artist's life and legacy.

It later received support from Vithabai Narayangaonkar's daughter, Mangala Bansode Karavadikar, amid the title controversy. She said the family has no objection, explaining that "Eetha" was an affectionate name villagers used for the legendary Lavani artist. Shraddha even planned to visit the village the folk artist was from.
