Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 has been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its release. The examining committee reportedly directed the makers to implement nine modifications, following which a UA 16+ certificate was granted before its theatrical release on August 14. The film will be clashing with Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947. The board reportedly implemented changes like toned-down violence, muted expletives, and the addition of anti-drug, anti-smoking and child trafficking disclaimers.

Awarapan 2 gets U/A certificate

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the film was granted a censor certificate on August 5. The U/A 16+ certification implies that the film has been approved for viewers aged 16 and above with parental guidance.

Among the modifications suggested by the CBFC, the makers were asked to include disclaimers about the use of drugs and child trafficking. The Board also recommended that the makers display the film's Hindi title, add anti-drug messages at multiple scenes and include a static anti-smoking warning.

The CBFC also asked for several changes to the film's language and action sequences. A number of obscene words were asked to be replaced in both the audio and subtitles. Similarly, multiple scenes featuring graphic violence were cut short. In one particular sequence, the intensity of violence was reportedly reduced by 50 per cent. Another scene depicting drug snorting was also edited from the final cut. Meanwhile, the end credits were also revised to keep in line with the film's background music.

In total, the Board ordered 4 minutes of deletions and 20 seconds of replacements, resulting in a final runtime of 140 minutes and 20 seconds, which comes to 2 hours and 30 minutes. Notably, the film will be released in Hindi with English subtitles.
