The Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) Executive Committee has been dissolved. The development comes after as many as 11 members resigned with immediate effect. The news was confirmed by the body's General Secretary and TV actor Upasana Singh. The resignations reportedly alleged that President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure misused their positions, which made the members call for fresh elections.

Upasana Singh confirmed to ANI that the members had resigned. She added that eight of the 11 members were elected members of the Executive Committee. She revealed that the eight elected members were Hemant Pandey, Mukesh Rishi, Sahila Chadha, Hetal Parmar, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, Vikas Verma and Deepak Parashar.

According to Singh, the said members submitted their resignations along with complaints highlighting their reasons for stepping down.

CINTAA members blame Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure

In their joint resignation letter, the members reportedly alleged multiple departures from the principles of collective decision-making, consultation and constitutional governance. They alleged that the association's functioning had become concentrated around Dhillon, Kolhapure, and some other Executive Committee members.

"The President, Poonam Dhillon, has repeatedly taken unilateral decisions, issued official communications through her ID to government officials and unilaterally decided communications to industry bodies. Through the official CINTAA ID, and represented the Association in public and with other government, quasi-judicial and industry bodies without the knowledge, consultation, and/or approval of the Executive Committee, thereby nullifying the principle of collective responsibility," a part of the letter read.

They further claimed that Dhillon had also represented the association before government, quasi-judicial and industry bodies, which the committee members were unaware of.

The joint letter also reportedly raised questions over the use of private lawyers during visits to government offices by Dhillon and Kolhapure. According to the members, these lawyers were introduced as CINTAA's lawyers despite not having the authority or sanction of the Executive Committee.

While speaking to ANI, Upasana Singh said, "Out of our 11 members, eight elected members have resigned and submitted their resignations to me. They have also submitted their complaints, stating that Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon are misusing their positions."

Singh also claimed that the two office-bearers did not pay heed to other members. Consequently, show-cause notices were issued arbitrarily. She also alleged that members' roles were being modified without consultation and that actors' membership cards were being cancelled without any prior warning.
