Actor Rhea Chakraborty has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of the legal battle and intense public scrutiny she faced following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. In a recent interview, she reflected on the trauma of being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and admitted that the experience continues to affect her years later.
Rhea recently got featured in Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi's show, the actress got candid about her trauma and struggle with mental health. She also shared her struggle with overcoming the trauma with NCB probe and Sushant Singh Rajput's demise.
Looking back at that difficult chapter, Rhea said the impact of the ordeal has never fully disappeared. "It's not something you can truly get over," she said, adding that trauma leaves a lasting imprint on a person's life. She explained that healing is an ongoing process rather than something that happens overnight.
The actress also discussed the importance of therapy in helping her cope with the emotional aftermath. According to Rhea, professional support and time have played a significant role in helping her rebuild her life after years of uncertainty and public judgment.
Her brother, Showik Chakraborty, who also faced legal proceedings during the investigation, shared that he continues to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Stressing the importance of seeking help, he encouraged people not to hesitate in prioritising their mental health and speaking to professionals when needed.
Rhea acknowledged that the experience fundamentally changed her perspective on life. While she admitted that painful memories still resurface, she said she has learned to move forward by focusing on healing instead of dwelling on the past. The actress also noted that difficult experiences can reshape a person's outlook and strengthen resilience over time.
The actress had been at the centre of nationwide attention after Sushant Singh Rajput's death in June 2020. She and her family were subjected to extensive media scrutiny as multiple agencies investigated different aspects of the case. Over the years, Rhea has gradually returned to work, making television appearances and resuming professional commitments while continuing to speak openly about mental health and recovery.
